Las cortinas es uno de esos elementos de decoración que marcan un antes y un después en nuestros hogares. Cuando las colocamos, visten los espacios y dan una personalidad única a cada estancia. Pero también hay que cuidarlas para mantenerlas perfectas y que no acaben afeando nuestro hogar en lugar de lo contrario.
Respecto a la frecuencia de lavado, depende de diversos factores. En general, podríamos decir que sería suficiente lavarlas cada 5 o 6 meses. Sin embargo, esta frecuencia debe variar si hablarmos, por ejemplo, de las cortinas de la cocina, que deberíamos lavarlas una vez al mes ya que es una estancia donde hay más grasa y donde inevitablemente hay más suciedad. También debemos lavarlas más habitualmente, las de la cocina y las del resto de la casa, en caso de tener bebés en casa, para evitar la acumulación de ácaros, también si tenemos mascotas, si fumamos o si vivimos en una zona con mucha contaminación.
Cómo lavarlas dependerá del tipo de cortina. Te damos unos consejos básicos:
1) En primer lugar, debemos leer las etiquetas para comprobar cómo podemos lavarlas. Puede ser que no se puedan lavar en la lavadora y tengamos que optar por lavado a mano o bien en tintorería.
2) Si es lavado a mano, podemos utilizar o bien un balde o bien nuestra bañera, según el tamaño de la cortina. Puede ser que necesitemos ayuda para aclarar bien o para escurrir la cortina.
3) En caso de lavadora, es mucho más sencillo. Sí que es importante meter las cortinas solas en la secadora y tener la precaución de quitarles las arandelas, ollaos, enganches, etc. que puedan manchar la cortina. Si son de plástico y están cosidos, podrás meterlos en la lavadora sin ningún problema.
Utiliza un programa de lavado a unos 30 o 40º, según indique la etiqueta y, lo que es muy importante es que programes un centrifugado corto. Además, que cuelgues las cortinas nada más acabar el programa, para evitar que se arruguen. Si crees que no vas a estar en casa cuando acabe la lavadora, es mejor que pongas un programa sin centrifugado y que, cuando llegues a casa, le des el golpe de centrifugado justo para quitar el exceso de agua.
4) Cuélgalas mojadas para que se sequen sin arrugarse.
Aunque te digamos que solamente hace falta lavarlas cada cierto tiempo, sí que es interesante que, cuando haces la limpieza de la casa, cada semana o cada quince días, las espolses o bien las aspires para combatir el polvo.
